What stays on your device
Your vehicles, fill-ups, cost entries, reminders, notes, odometer readings, station names, and imported CSV data are stored on your iPhone. If you enable iCloud sync or backup, that data may also be included in your personal iCloud storage. We do not have direct access to that information.
What leaves your device
When you use receipt scanning or odometer scanning, the image you capture is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection so the app can extract fields such as date, amount, fuel volume, price per unit, station name, and odometer reading.
Only the extracted text is saved in the app. The image itself is not stored by us as part of a user account or long-term database.
What each party does with scan data
- VehicleAI: We do not store, log, or manually review receipt or odometer images on our proxy.
- Cloudflare: As our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare may process network metadata such as IP address and request timestamps for security and abuse prevention.
- Google Gemini API: Google performs the text extraction. Under Google's paid-tier terms, prompts, images, and responses are not used to train or improve Google's models. Google may retain requests for up to 24 hours for abuse monitoring, then delete them.

What we do not collect
- We do not require an account or sign-in.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or contacts through the app.
- We do not run advertising SDKs.
- We do not run third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your content to train AI models.
Permissions the app may request
- Camera: to capture receipts and odometer readings when you choose to scan.
- Notifications: to deliver service and maintenance reminders you create.
- Photo Library: optional, only if you choose an existing image to scan.
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Data retention
- On your device: until you delete an entry, remove the app, or remove related iCloud backup data.
- On our proxy: no image content is retained by us. Limited infrastructure logs may exist briefly for security purposes.
- At Google: up to 24 hours for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
Your controls
Because we do not maintain a user account database for your records, there is usually nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf. Deleting entries in the app, or deleting the app itself, removes the local data under your control.
Changes to this policy
If VehicleAI changes how it handles data, this page will be updated and the date above will change. Material changes will also be reflected in the app before they take effect.
