What stays on your device
Your PDF files, the passwords you use to lock or unlock them, and your list of recent files stay entirely on your device. All processing happens locally using Apple's native APIs. We do not have access to your documents or your passwords.
What leaves your device
Nothing. PaperKey does not transmit any of your document data or personal information to any server.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account or sign-in.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.
- We do not collect or store your PDF files or passwords.
- We do not run advertising SDKs.
- We do not run third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use your content to train AI models.
Permissions the app may request
- Files: to open and save PDFs as directed by you.
PaperKey uses standard iOS document pickers to ensure it only accesses the files you explicitly choose.
Data retention
- On your device: Your "Recent Files" list and any secured PDFs remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app.
- On our servers: We do not operate servers that store user data.
Changes to this policy
If PaperKey changes how it handles data, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
